Songs About Prison

Who doesn't like Merle Haggard? I wanted to attach a few links because there are quite a few guitar songs about Prison, Johnny Cash, obviously, almost trademarked it. Delia's gone, Folsom Prison Blues,In the Jailhouse Now, Cocaine Blues. David Allen Coe has a couple of songs about prison that I have heard. I would guess that if I polled people about the musical instrument they most associate with prison the answer would be the guitar because of songs like these. I will be looking at prison and the relationship to the guitar.

- this is one of my favorite songs to sing at Karaoke. Not so much about Prison but it gets an honorable mention.

This is a short video on interesting prison hobbies. It is actually pretty cool in kind of a sad way sice these guys are doing a lot of time. One of the inmates has crafted his own guitar out of model boat kits, and radio parts, to make a couple of eletric guitars. I am sure prisons are full of all sorts of resourceful people. I think it is interesting how the guitar has such a long standing relationship with the prison system.
